WELCOME TO Ecomuseums 2012 aims at gathering scholars, academics and practitioners working in the areas of Ecomuseums and Community Museums. It can be considered that this wide range of ecomuseological and community-based museological initiatives demonstrates an international interest in alternative heritage management approaches. For this reason, Ecomuseums 2012 seeks to bring together scholars, researchers, architects and heritage professionals to discuss the commonalities, differences and future of safeguarding practices that are holistic and community oriented in scope. (read more) VENUE For Ecomuseums 2012 Seixal was the perfect and natural choice as it houses the oldest and most successful ecomuseum of Portugal. The Conference programme includes a thorough visit to the Eco Museum nucleus and sections, each one representing an important aspect of the history and heritage from Seixal. The reconstructed tide mill, traditional ships of the river Tejo, industrial assets and rural areas are part of this Museum and will allow all Delegates a in-depth understanding of social, economic, historical and traditional heritage of Seixal.
